The short answer
Joint health is one of the strongest large niches on our board. Of 208 winning Meta ads from 78 brands, 14% reach the top tier against about 10% across the board, and joint images do even better at 26%. The winners open with a first-person story or a sign the viewer recognizes, and they speak to people who already know something hurts.
Joint health, by the numbers
We tag an ad with the joints niche when the product's main promise is about knees, hips, backs, shoulders or hands moving more easily. On October 9, 2026 the Ad Radar board held 208 live joint ads from 78 brands, each with at least $50k in estimated spend.

Among niches with more than 100 ads, joints has the highest share of ads that reach the top tier. That makes it a good niche to study even if you sell something else: the ads here tend to be built carefully, and they hold.
Not just supplements
The keyword is "joint supplement ads", but supplements are only about a quarter of the niche. Braces and sleeves take the biggest share.
| Product form | Joint ads | Median est. spend | Top tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apparel (braces, sleeves, gloves) | 68 | $204K | 12% |
| Supplement | 58 | $264K | 16% |
| Device | 29 | $256K | 21% |
| Topical (balms, patches) | 12 | $253K | 17% |
Joint supplements reach the top tier at 16%, well above the 7.7% rate of supplement ads in general. Devices do even better on a smaller sample. The common thread is a problem people feel every morning, so the viewer doesn't need to be convinced the problem exists.
41 joint ads are for dogs. They carry a higher median estimated spend ($290K) than the human ones ($219K), and 7 of them reach the top tier. Dog joint ads use the same structure as human ones, with the owner as narrator. We cover that side in pet ads.
Images win more often here
The most useful finding for this niche: joint images outperform joint videos by a wide margin.
| Format | Joint ads | Median est. spend | Median days live | Top tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Image | 43 | $263K | 160 | 26% |
| Video | 165 | $223K | 123 | 11% |
Joint images run longer, carry a higher median spend and reach the top tier more than twice as often. Most of them follow one template: a product headline with an offer, and a long customer review or first-person story as the body text. The reader does the work of reading, and the people who read to the end are the ones in pain.

The hooks behind joint winners
| Hook pattern | Joint ads | Share (board) | Top tier | Median est. spend |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| First-Person Story | 63 | 30% (18%) | 11% | $242K |
| Problem/Benefit Opener | 47 | 23% (29%) | 17% | $290K |
| Specific Number Opener | 37 | 18% (17%) | 19% | $186K |
| Question Opener | 24 | 12% (15%) | 4% | $138K |
| Warning/Shock Opener | 20 | 10% (6%) | 15% | $247K |
| Offer-First Opener | 9 | 4% (10%) | 22% | $261K |
First-person stories dominate. Joint pain is personal and specific: which knee, which stairs, which morning. A story told in the first person can name those details, and the right viewer recognizes their own life in them.

Live for over a year and a half. The speaker names the exact injury in the first sentence, so anyone with the same shoulder knows the ad is for them.
Question openers are the weak spot again: 24 ads, one in the top tier. "Knee pain?" is what every brand in the niche writes. The openers that work replace the question with a sign.

A sign, not a diagnosis. Everyone with that back pain has leaned on a cart, and the line makes them feel seen before any product appears.
Problem-aware, explained by an expert
Two tags describe how joint winners talk.
Awareness. 38% of joint ads target problem-aware viewers, about twice the board share (20%). Only 7 ads target people who already know the product or brand, and none of them reaches the top tier. Joint brands win by finding people in pain who haven't found a fix yet. See problem-aware ads for how this works in other niches.
Who speaks. Founder/Expert videos are 14% of joint ads, more than twice the board share, and 17% of them reach the top tier. Expert Authority as a video type reaches it at 25% (16 ads). A physical therapist or a coach explaining why a joint hurts holds attention in a way a product shot can't. The systematic breakdown angle (step-by-step explanations) also over-indexes: 25% of the niche, 19% top tier.
Joint videos are long. The median runs 112 seconds against 64 across the board, and 36% pass three minutes. Explanations take time, and this audience gives it.

The top joint brand by ad count on the board (22 ads). This one lists the small signs of an aging dog in the body copy and sends the click to a listicle.
Where joint ads send the click
Product pages are the most common destination (28%), but less than across the board (36%). Joint brands use listicles far more: 15% of the niche against 4% of the board. Quizzes are rare (7 ads), though 3 of them reach the top tier. A listicle lets the buyer read five reasons, compare options and see reviews before the product page, which suits a considered purchase for a chronic problem.
What to copy for joint ads
- Run images with a long customer review. A product headline, an offer, and a real review as the body. In this niche images reach the top tier at more than twice the video rate.
- Open with a sign, not a question. The shopping cart lean, the stairs, the stiff first steps in the morning.
- Write in the first person. Name the exact joint and the exact moment it hurts.
- Put a professional on camera for the long version. A therapist or coach explaining the cause, in two to three minutes.
- Target the problem-aware. Ads aimed at existing customers barely register here.
- Test a listicle page behind your best ad. It is four times more common in this niche than elsewhere.
- Keep claims about experiences, not cures. Substantiating any health claim is the advertiser's job.
Foot pain overlaps heavily with this niche (35 joint ads also carry the foot tag). See foot care ads for the shoe and insole side. To pull joint ads by format and sort by days live, use the Ad Radar board.
Figures marked as estimated spend come from Ad Radar's model of engagement on public Meta Ad Library ads. They are estimates, labeled as such, and are best used to rank ads against each other.
