The short answer

AI ad creative tools do five different jobs: research, scripting, static generation, AI-actor video and analytics. Pick by job, not by brand. On our board of winning Meta ads, AI-generated ads reach the top tier 3% of the time against 12% for human-shot formats, so the safest place for AI today is research and scripting, with generation used for volume and testing.

Five jobs, five kinds of tool

"AI ad creative tool" covers everything from a chatbot to an AI avatar studio. Sorting them by the job they do makes the choice easier. Prices below are from each vendor's site, checked October 2026.

JobWhat the tool doesExamplesEntry price

5. AnalyticsTags and scores your own creativesMotion, Segwise$750/month; $499/month

Most teams need two or three of these, not all five. A small brand might use only jobs 1 and 2 and shoot the ads on a phone. A team that needs fifty variations a week adds 3 or 4.

What the data says about AI-generated ads

Before choosing generation tools, it helps to know how AI-made ads do once they are live. Our board holds 2,443 Meta ads with $50k or more in estimated spend. 77 of them, from 44 brands, are tagged as AI-generated.

Three things stand out. AI ads do reach serious money: 12 of the 77 passed $1M in estimated spend. They get swapped out sooner, with a median of 97 days live against 143. And they are long: a median of 153 seconds, mostly story narration (33 ads) and voiceover listicles (19). That points to how brands use them today: as a cheap way to produce long story-style ads, not as a replacement for the short UGC that wins in many niches. More in AI UGC ads: what the spend data says.

The top-tier gap is the number to keep in mind. "Top tier" is the top 10% of the board by winner score, built on days live, variants and how fast engagement grows. AI-generated ads reach it at about a quarter of the rate of human-shot formats.

The categories in detail

1. Research

Every other job works better when it starts from evidence. Research tools tell you which hooks, formats and angles are carrying real budgets in your niche. Ad Radar shows only Meta ads with $50k or more in estimated spend, tagged ten ways, and its MCP server lets Claude query the board directly. Atria includes MCP access from its Core plan and Foreplay from Workflow. See AI creative strategist for how teams use this.

2. Scripting and briefs

General models write hooks, scripts and briefs well when you give them real examples. Without examples they write the average ad. The fix is to paste in three to five winning scripts from your niche and ask for variations on the structure, not the words. Our AI ad script writing guide has prompts, and AI creative brief shows the brief format.

3. Static generation

AdCreative.ai generates banners, copy and product shots, with creative scoring and competitor insights. Starter is $39 a month for 10 credits, Professional $249 for 50, and yearly billing is half price, with a 7-day trial. Meta also builds generative features into Ads Manager at no extra cost; we cover them in Meta's generative AI ad tools. Statics are where AI generation is most mature.

4. AI-actor video

Creatify turns scripts and product URLs into videos with AI actors. Its free plan gives 10 credits a month with watermarked exports; Starter is $39 a month for 100 credits and videos up to 2 minutes; Pro is $99 for 300 credits, videos up to 10 minutes, 1,500 actors, an MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT and a Meta competitor ad tracker. Arcads offers a library of 1,000+ AI actors, custom avatars, translation and AI editing; it didn't list prices on its homepage when we checked.

5. Analytics

Once ads are live, analytics tools tag your own creatives and show which elements drive results. Motion starts at $750 a month, Segwise at $499. This is the only category that needs access to your ad account. We compare them in Motion alternatives.

Where AI tools still fall short

  • They don't know what is winning. A generator trained on the open web has no idea which ads in your niche carry budget this month. That is why research comes first.
  • They average. Ask for "a good hook" and you get the most common hook. On our board the most common opener (problem/benefit, 714 ads) reaches the top tier less often than specific-number openers (411 ads, 13%).
  • Claims. AI tools write health and results claims freely. Compliance stays with the advertiser, so every generated script needs a human read before it runs.

A workflow that uses AI where it is strongest

  1. Research with real data. Pull 10 to 20 winning ads in your niche, filtered by format and hook pattern.
  2. Script with Claude or ChatGPT. Paste the top three scripts, name the pattern they share, and ask for five scripts on that pattern for your product.
  3. Shoot the best two with people. Given the top-tier gap, human-shot ads remain the safer bet for your main concepts.
  4. Use generation for volume. Make AI versions of the other three scripts, plus static variations of the winners, to widen the test.
  5. Judge everything on the same scale. Run them side by side and tag them the same way, so you learn whether AI production works for your brand instead of guessing.

If you work in Claude, the Ad Radar MCP setup covers step 1 without leaving the chat.

Figures marked as estimated spend come from Ad Radar's model of engagement on public Meta Ad Library ads. They are estimates, labeled as such, and are best used to rank ads against each other.

Questions

What is the best AI tool for ad creatives?

There isn't one: the category covers five jobs. For research, a tool that ranks real ads (Ad Radar for Meta, or Atria). For scripts and briefs, a general model like Claude. For statics, AdCreative.ai or Meta's own tools in Ads Manager. For AI-actor video, Creatify or Arcads. For analytics, Motion or Segwise.

Do AI-generated ads work on Facebook?

Some do. 77 ads on our board of 2,443 winning Meta ads are AI-generated, and 12 of them passed $1M in estimated spend. But only 3% reach our top tier, against 12% for human-shot formats like UGC, founder and footage with voiceover, and they stay live for less time.

How much do AI ad generators cost?

From each vendor's page in October 2026: AdCreative.ai Starter is $39 a month (10 credits) with a 7-day trial; Creatify has a free plan with watermarks and Starter at $39 a month; Arcads doesn't show prices on its homepage, so check its site. Meta's generative features inside Ads Manager cost nothing extra.

Can Claude make ad creatives?

Claude writes scripts, hooks, briefs and ad copy, and with an MCP connection it can read ad data first. It doesn't render finished videos. A common setup is Claude for research and scripting, then an image or video generator for the asset.
